Most business owners, not just those in network marketing, have a plan when they start their businesses. This is great, but they often get stuck in the daily outputs of executing this plan. Very rarely do they stop and think, “what do I want this business to give me?”.
A business is supposed to give you what you want. You may want financial freedom - what does that look like? Specifically, what’s the number you’d like? It could be a certain lifestyle you want - what does this look like? How many hours a week do you want to work and how realistic is this?
At what point, with the model of your network marketing business, would you be able to achieve what you want by living the lifestyle or earning the money that you said you wanted from the business?
This business should give you more life, not less. For most people, their business will suck the life out of them sometimes. For some of you reading this, I think perhaps that’s why you’re in network marketing because you had businesses or jobs that sucked the life out of you. You knew there had to be a better way.
So, what I always get business owners to do is first get really, really clear on what they want. Because if you aren't clear on what you want, you're never going to get it.
So, what is it that you want? What’s your magic number? If I could wave a magic wand and I could hand you a cheque, what’s the magic number that you would like from your network marketing business?
There’s a method to working out your magic number. For example, if your magic number is one million dollars and the business is generating a 30% profit, then you’ve got to generate three million or so in gross revenue. Work backwards from your figure and work out what you want to get paid. Start there. Work out your magic number!
