What if your life can change in a single moment? Mine did, and I want to share how knowing that it can, makes everything possible now.

I was too busy to have a sense of urgency around financial resilience until one day in 2003, when my husband told me he was off to war. He was a reservist soldier, so I guess I shouldn't have been so shocked, but in my head, I was married to a reporter. Looking back I can see that him turning up to our wedding in his uniform should have been a clue.

When the Iraq war began, it didn't occur to me to panic. My husband was only a reservist, and they don't conscript reservist soldiers to go to war. We didn't live on a base. We didn't have free dental or healthcare. We were an average couple, with a young family living in the burbs.

When he said to me, "Lou, I have to go" my response was, "why do you have to go when we have a 2- and a 4-year-old?" He replied with "how can I NOT go when we have a 2- and a 4-year old?" That was game, set, match. You can't argue against world peace. It's a battle you're never going to win.

Once I understood the strength of his convictions, the fear set in. The war in Iraq was dirty and chemical warfare was a real possibility. What if he didn't make it back? What if the man that left was not the man who came home? If all the responsibility for providing for my family suddenly fell on my shoulders, would I cope? That was the day I decided it was time to start living my life with a different purpose.

But you don't have to go to war to make a change in your life. The decision to make a change, to live with more purpose, more passion--even more prosperity--is waiting for you right here and right now. What will you choose?
